How easy is it to create a completely unique storefront with CS-Cart?

I'm looking to create a unique looking store with many changes to the default template. For example, I'd like the page navigation to be a single button placed at the bottom of each product listing page which will load (a-la Tumblr) additional product items upon clicking.

Could I easily do this with CS-Cart?

What about changing the frontpage to something like http://www.crateandbarrel.com/?

I've heard concerns about it being difficult to create a truly unique online store design without a powerful CMS.

Should I go with Drupal + Ubercart (or a similar CMS + ecommerce module) setup if I want to do more with the design?

Thanks!

I see nothing to fancy in your link, just superb quality images (no cart will give you that :-) ).

Too many questions needs to be answered before you choose a cart. If you are only concerned with the “looks” go with ubercart. Buy a nice template, customize it and you are set.

But if you run a business and you need a web presence, then you pick a cart to integrate to your current sales-shipping operations. “How it works” is more important than “how it looks”.

Lastly, from my experience, there is no “easy” cart or CMS. They all demand your time and serious dedication to test and learn.

If you want links for CS-Cart skins, addons, etc. that you can purchase, this might be a good place for you to look: Best content in CS-Cart | Diigo - Groups
