Ideally I would like to send the tracking number and hotlink it to the carriers website in the Order Status Complete email.
Does someone sell an add-on to do this?
If not how are store operators letting customers know the tracking number and carrier?

Set the Shipped status to order only after the tracking code is added. The tracking url should be displayed in the invoice which is received by e-mail in this case. As alternative, you can add additional order status (e.g. Tracking code added and enable the Notify user option for this status)
