How do I create group categories?
Example I have 5 groups of products: Group A,B,C,D & E
Each group has around 30 categories.
So I would like to show the 5 groups and then when you click on teh parent groups the subgroups show up.
Let me rephrase my question:
Is it possible without custom coding to make group categories?
Not clear to me exactly what you're asking… Are you asking how to setup 5 categories with 30 subcategories within each and assign products to those categories/sub-categories?
I've not seen the phrase “group categories” used so not sure what you mean.
My apologies for the confusion in my description - but you understood me perfectly.
I want top level categories with no products and the subcategories with products.
Is this easy to do?
Basic admin and probably the most common way to do category hierarchies. Knowledge base or user guide should help you.
Basically you have built your sub-categories already. You now discover you have a need to create 5 upper level categories for them.
Make your 5 new categories (at root level) and then edit each of your existing categories. Set the Location of the existing categories as sub-categories of one of the 5 new ones.
This will change your menu so only the 5 new categories will be in the menu, with your existing sub-categories under each.

Magpie Don,
Thank you, brilliant and amazing that I have been using CS Cart for years and never even noticed the location area.
Next step is changing the font size of the new category groups - as the new group categories are the same small font size as the categories with products and I would prefer the new groups to have larger fonts.
