My friend is looking for simple, easy to setup and use hosted subscription based shopping cart solution. Any recommendations are welcome. Requirements would be 1000 - 2000 products, hosted in US preferably.
I have friends and customers that have used Shopify, Volusion and Magento Go. They were happy with them for what they are but expect to pay 60-130 dollars per month depending on features and # of sku's.

That is the “Deal or not deal” question. Any independent cart +VPS +SSL +skins +Addons +server maintenance will hit the same cost. Is like this hosted solutions did their math, and just increased an extra 30% to carry the weight. May I be wrong…

Not everyone got skills to manage own computer not speaking of vps and similar stuff. That is why he is looking for solution like hosted cart.
Personally if i had decent shared hosting with good resources I wouldn't even bother with vps (one I used kicked me out when I started using cs-cart).
