I am currently using a modified version of the responsive 'Brightness' theme.

Currently, when using the theme editor, when I change the @menu color, it also changes the color of the Categories side box as pictured.

I want to be able to change the color of the main menu up the top without it effecting the Category box.

Is this possible?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change with the help of Design Editor or by modifying the @menu color.

But you can find and change the main menu styles directly, not via @menu.

Note that you can extend the Theme editor and add your custom settings there. Please check the schema.json section in the following guide:
