Help! I messed up

I downloaded and installed the latest cs-cart on my Win11/WAMP to check out some different themes. I foolishly used my real license key. Now my real website is showing gibberish. Apparently it thinks I’m up to no good. I went to cs-cart help desk looking for a way to reset it but found nothing.

So I tried to create a ticket but it says

Customer Care service is not available for your account at the moment. You can extend Customer Care plan here.

it will apparently cost me $239 to submit a ticket?!? I just renewed upgrade support in June.

The live admin panel shows gibberish too. Is there any way to reset my license to the live site? I have full access to files…

Hello

Delete the local WAMP copy. Then on the live site go to Settings > Licensing mode, pick Full, paste your license number and hit Activate. That button runs a live check against the licensing server and rewrites the store mode. Re-saving the same number on a settings page will not do it, the value has to go through that screen. Clear var/cache after.

If nothing changes, check that allow_url_fopen is enabled, otherwise teh license response never arrives. Logging out and back in forces another check too.

If it still fails, the key needs to be re-assigned to your domain on CS-Cart side, so contact them about the license itself.

Best regards
Robert

Thanks for the response. I did all you suggested. I found Licensing Mode at the bottom of the admin panel gibberish and it was already set correctly. My license is CS-Cart Standard, btw. I hit Select and got an email that says “Your store now uses active license.”

allow_url_fopen was already enabled. I also deleted the /var/cache and /var/cache1 on the server.

The site still shows gibberish though. Lots of very large graphics interspersed with text. I refreshed the browser and tried a different browser too.

I don’t know how to contact them without paying $239 to to submit a ticket.

Will anyone from cs-cart please help me to get my site back up?.\

Hello

Two things then.

First, make sure nobody else is logged into the admin panel, including a second browser of your own. A session that still holds the old license status can push the store back to trial on its own, and you would not see that in the browser you activated from. Worth re-checking Settings > Licensing mode afterwards.

Second, what you describe sounds like pages loading without their stylesheet, so lets confirm it instead of guessing. Open the storefront page source, take the CSS and JS links and load them directly in the browser. If they come back 200, teh styles are being served and the problem is elsewhere, so post a screenshot. If they 404, that is where to dig and we can work from there.

Best regards
Robert

You can PM us if it’s really urgent. Usually, a CS-Cart license key issue will not take your site down.

Have you tried to delete the var/cache directory manually?

Thanks for the replies!

I’m making progress: Disabling Cloudfare WAF solves the problem. It’s possibly coincidental that the problems started occurring immediately after I entered the live csc license on my local install.

I’m still investigating why. Disabling only my custom rules did not fix it.

Note: I enabled cloudfare waf last month when unwanted bots were using 90% of my sites bandwidth. It worked great until yesterday.

Finally found the problem. In cloudfare waf, go to [mydomain]/caching/configuration. Select Purge everything.

Why? It probably has something to do with something cached that was changed by resetting the license key.
