Help! Customer's Can't Checkout

I have been flooded with emails this morning from customers who cannot checkout from my store.



I went out there and tried to place an order and I got to the shipping step and it just sat there, it would not show shipping options. I finally got this message:

I use USPS for shipping. Is anyone else having problems? I wonder if USPS is down? Does anyone know how I can check?

Simply upgrade your store to 2.0.12.

I can’t just simply upgrade to 2.0.12. I am on version 2.0.8 and I haven’t tested the upgrade on my development site to make sure nothing happens.



Any other ideas?

Just out of curiousity, why would upgrading to 2.0.12 help?

Because USPS has changed their system so another way you can try is to upgrade UPS shipping related files.

Do you mean USPS? That is what I use. Does it sometimes work? I just got 1 order, but others wouldn’t go through earlier this morning.



Do you know any specifics that I can change in 2.0.8 to work until I can upgrade to 2.0.12?

Oops sorry, it’s a bit late here, yes it’s USPS.



I think cs-cart should provide a separate fix for this problem. Have you contacted helpdesk? This will solve your problem faster.

First class shipping calculation on my 1.3.5 shop is also broken. Loosing business! CS_CART needs to provide an updated script.

Yes, there should be a separate fix for both 1.x and 2.x version. I can not imagine how many cs-cart stores are suffering from this problem…



Be quick to contact cs-cart helpdesk. Since I’m not using USPS, I’m sorry that I can not dig further to make this shipping method works 100% properly in a short time.

Problem is they are closed right now. It is nighttime in Russia right now.



I will create a ticket, but just trying to see if some of the CS-Cart whizzes on the forum can help.

Whoa! If the shipper made changes of the type rendering shopping cart apps out there unable to communicate properly, that’s pretty major and could effect a whole lot of e-commerce stores out there! :frowning:



Can’t expect everyone to upgrade to 2.0.12 so I’d probably second the motion there for an update ASAP for this shipping item for all the many users out there who are still running older versions who either can’t or don’t want to upgrade yet. :wink:

In trying to workaround the First Class USPS Problem, in Shipping Settings for USPS First Class, I changed from real-time to manual, then tried to set weight thresh-holds. That did not work well probably because I did something wrong. Then I switched back to Realtime, and remarkably, the Realtime shipping calculation for USPS First Class started working again.



Is it possible that by switching from realtime to manual and then back to realtime, cs-cart reloads the xml? Surely it could not be that simple.



FYI, I first became aware of this problem by a customer calling me to place an order over the phone because the system would hang. Then when I tried to create the order using Admin, I couldn’t get past entering the customer data.

What specific US Postal shipping methods are you currently offering on your site?



The changes made by USPS does not effect all of their services, only perhaps two of them, one of which is 1st Class Mail.



Point being, if you are only offering Priority Mail for example, then the issues Joe is mentioning would not effect your site.
