Google Base Items returning 404 error - URLs Change

I managed to import my items to Google Base, and they are Published and searchable.

The item link returns the 404 error page, from the items base page. So just for the heck of it I did a search in Google and found my item that was published, clicked on that link and got the same result.

Here is the link from Google:

http://cnt-web.biz/index.php?dispatch=products&product_id=29816

Here is the link from the site

http://cnt-web.biz/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29816

It seems that some how the URL got changed and is different between the export file I uploaded to Google, notice the . and & in different places.

How is this happing and how can I change it?

Thanks,

Bill…

Hi

Not sure why they different but…

Site= http://cnt-web.biz/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29816

Google=http://cnt-web.biz/index.php?dispatch=products&product_id=29816

That’s all I can see!

What browser are you using?

I am using Safari, and tested also with Firefox, and both links I posted worked for me, the 404 error page, and the item page.

Not sure why they have appeared in that format, both work, the only difference is the red. .view in the site link.

Sorry if that confused you.

using IE7!

Barry

This is without red markers which killed the link.

Yea, sometimes I do get confused easily is seems… lol

I am thinking maybe the encoding or the delimiter or both needs to be change, as at Google Base I have it set to auto detect and the auto detect didn’t work right?

(I know I read somewhere the format that the file is exported to…)

See attached pics

Google feed 1.gif

Google data feed 1.gif

Here is the response I got from Google when I first was having problems…
Thank you for your email. I have taken a look at your account and found

that the reason your data feed ‘google_general_05232009.txt’ was

disapproved is because the URLs in it aren’t working correctly. Please

make sure all of your URLs are functional, or Google users won’t be able

to view your items.

I have noticed that you have deleted the data feed

‘google_general_05232009.txt’ and registered a new data feed ‘bizdata.txt’

which contains the same error. Please make the required corrections and

resubmit it without changing the file name.
OK, after a little more research, the file that is exported to Google through the export to Google Base does not contain the ".view ", however the url from any page on my site does include the “.view”

So somehow the complete URL is not correct in the export file. Is there a place / file that this can be changed in?

Hi

I am still on 1.3.5 so not familiar with 2. I would suggest however to raise as a bug, because you shouldn’t need to change anything in the file you upload to google.

One thing though, we never call the file by type ie txt or csv etc we used to have problems of a different kind and that resolved them.

Might be worth a try?

Barry,

Because I am still using v2.0.3 trial and in the past when I have put a question to support I was told that the bug would be fixed in the next upgrade. However of course since I am using the Trial version I can not upgrade.

But I have found a work around for the time being until the time I can pay for CS-Cart (good thing for the 60 days). What I did was go through the steps and import to Google the wrong file format, the cvs. Then because the cvs file is saved to the backup directory I downloaded it, opened it with a spreadsheet program and made the changes I needed (added the .view) and saved it as a txt in the tab delimited file format, the did a manual upload to Google and everybody is happy now.

But I am not sure of your response. Are you saying when you save and name your file that your not using the extension?
