Hi everyone - in the spirit of community-dom I signed up for the Cs-Cart forum. To me CS-Cart is a deliciously flexible system which constantly gives me trouble (howz that for an oxymoron XD!) but it has helped me so much with two projects…with the aims of using it with a third.
I hope I can contribute to the forums somewhat and likewise look forward to helping out.
A couple of questions - like tbirnseth mentioned in a previous post…why is CS-cart so hidden? Even x-cart (a total cs-cart looking clone) gets more exposure…
Anyone got any web guides or book recommendations in getting started on shopping cart design (like infrastructure etc…)?
Ha, yes same here, it's a love & hate relationship. But really, it can do so much and it's so flexible, I really do love cs-cart and have had great success setting up my shops… sometimes i'm still amazed at how much it does.
The only thing they should do, is get a good marketing guy and get the program out there with the big guys - some carts that are not even 30% of cs-cart get more exposure then cs, and that's simply not fair.

CS-Cart, the company - their website sucks for all intents and purposes. The don't encourage (actively) the spread of their shopping cart via professional channels. Example: I visited the 'Internet Retailer Magazine' conference in Orlando in 2011, didn't see a single instance of CS-Cart despite it's large audience, no professional developers for it, the closest I found was a credit-card merchant that had worked with CS-Cart, after my referral for custom services.
Basically, CS-Cart doesn't want to exist in the industry they've somehow targeted.

That seems a bit harsh, are you having a bad day Jesse…
I believe there is quite alot they are currently & have been doing quite well, the Ultimate Version will without doubt increase their popularity by leaps & bounds. Agreed, their marketing, as well as forum participation could stand some major improvements, although I do believe that will continue to improve as well. They are slowly becoming “Americanized”!
Hi Jesse and Struck. I have to admit that if cs-cart is sucky…they hide that real well XD. And probably with the final release of v3.0 maybe they’ll get a lot more exposure - maybe the Twigmo service could work to this end as well - simply due to the iOS app support…but so far feedback on that doesnt look too good.

Tbh Flow I’m currently in the HATE cycle XD (oh checkout woes T-T)…but once this current contract is over…it’s CS love all the way!
Anyone know when I can add my avatar image to my profile? I get a error message when I try to add a link or custom image via upload.

Hello J-Nelson and Welcome!
It is a rather long “political type” process requiring a majority vote from the community to allow your use of personal Avatars, just attempt to be patient and not get yourself banned for a minimum of 18 months, then re-attempt to create your avatar.
…oh god…well I guess it'll be fun earning ma stripes. Thanks for the help on that and ty for the welcome.

Your quite welcome J-Nelson, I will go ahead & give you my single vote, just to get the process rolling for you…
Ty Struck appreciated XD.

I never really thought about an avatar until last week, but gave up when I got that same error.
So is the avatar feature activate upon a certain post count or 'Vote this post up' clicks?
It might be but it seems that this is related to time also… there is possibly more emphasis on time if only due to the fact that some older users with a smaller post count seem to also have avatars.
Still 18 months seems long but it'll be worth it in the end XD
I was only messing with you J-Nelson, there is no waiting period required to have an avatar, you guys are too easy!
XDDD …wow. welp at least you proved the Internet has a sense of humour XD. I'm still half-reeling from that fact I just got hazed on the internet XD.
StellarBytes if you see this then you got your answer XD.
Btw does that mean its a general error then? I haven't checked all around the forum yet to see.
Wow, I must be super lame. I just had to Google what XD means. Apparently this is the same als LOL? Stupid new lingo. It moves faster than I can keep track.

Brandon,
I have no idea what XD means either, may be a sign we are getting old & being left behind!
But then again, I just decided to figure out what an IPad was last week, and quickly realized my daughter could really use that for her college classes rather than toting her clunky laptop with a 15" monitor around all day!
J-Nelson,
Not sure why you cannot load your avatar, but honestly, I would not put much effort into figuring out the issue if mine didn’t work, if it won’t make me money, then I won’t bother!

And a scary sign at that in both situations.

Nah, we are only as old as we feel Tool, and right now I feel like whipping up one of them 32 Oz Margarita’s and crankin up the rock & roll !
I guess I meant more on the scary side of whomever came up with XD (whatever it means) is the generation that will be running the country one of these days.
I’m about to get my whiskey goggles on and go jump in a pool with some close to XD generation girls!

Just hold on to that whiskey bottle cap, cause you can put it back on the bottle when it is empty and use the bottle as a life preserver in case you float out into the deep end, and I have done it! It’s all about survival…
