Yes, the core of Magento is awesome!!! I found it’s not that hard to customize Magento when you are familiar with it. You’ll love it!!!
Hello There,
Are you ready to spend $8,900 with Magento each year? Pay $8,900 year after year, to be able to use the Magento full features?
Not me. I’m not so stupid to “rent” Magento, while you can buy CS-Cart with the same full features for a lot less

Definitely not, we have other ways around.
$8,900+ and they don’t even have a Knowledge Base Addon…LOL, get your seatbelts ready, KB coming next week…
My understanding of Magento’s model is to offer the “core” free to users, so they basically can Beta test and offer free feedback for their product and then incorporate that into their “full featured” product which they then offer to larger companies who can afford the 9,000 a year support tag.
Basically leveraging the power of the open source community to build an enterprise product then can sell.
Just my opinion here.
I only know one thing, all of this is well planned!
If not, how can they make money for customization?
So, less document means more money. Well done Magento, thanks to you, developers can live a better life to charge a higher price for customization…
All of this is based on that the customers like it!
About comparing the features, well, you can not, because you don’t know what Magento can develop for a customer in one year! It’s unpredictable!
I’ll give Varien credit, it was a WELL Executed business plan.
