I am currently using v2.0.12 and after revisiting the whole “Which Cart?” yet again with Zen vs osCommerce vs CS-Cart I will give CS-Cart one last chance.
So, I have my current v2.0.12 installed in the root of my site.
How can I do a fresh install of v2.1.1 without having to close my existing shop down. Once 2.1.1 is installed I will copy and paste the products into the new store from the old one (import has never worked properly plus I need to update each product anyway) and then delete the old store and open the new one.
Do I install 2.1.1 into a folder and then when going live copy the folder to the root or…???

I would suggest creating a subdomain like ‘new.domain.com’ or ‘dev.domain.com’
This makes it a “separate” installation against your store, so you can nuke it and still have your store run

Yes, just you will have to change the store URL in the config.local.php
