I have my shipping setup for free shipping if the order is over $50 otherwise, it is $5 flat. I am starting to sell some larger items, that cost too much to ship to offer free shipping on them. How would I add an exception for these items so they do not get free shipping?
Hello Idslamyou!
You can add the additional shipping cost for some products using the “Shipping freight” option, then this cost will be added to the normal shipping cost defined for the shipping methods. The details may be found here: [url]CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

Thanks, that will work for some of my items, but I have an item that has different size options. I don’t want to charge freight on the smaller sizes only the larger sizes. Is there a way to specify additoinal shipping cost for product options? I see there is a weight multiplier, but since the shipping is not configured to look at weight, it is useless.

Just add the additional shipping cost for these larger items into the product price. When you choose to manually calculate your shipping rates vs. using realtime calculations, that’s what happens, you loose alot of flexibility in determining shipping rates.
It would also be wise to mention the exact version of CS-Cart you are actually using considering alot of improvements have been made to the way shipping is handled in latest versions.
Using 2.1.2. Do any of the versions allow shipping within the admin section? Currently, we use paypal and ship everything through there, but we are looking for a more efficient solution where we don’t have to go back and marked the order as shipped. Does one exist?

That would absolutely suck!
You need to check out the “Shipments Feature” included in CS-Cart which allows you to handle shipment related details directly from the admin panel, I believe it is what you will need.
Check shippingkits.com for an integrated UPS, FedEx or other solutions. They’ve been doing this with cs-cart for a long time.

It works for now because we only get a few orders a day, but this solution won’t work for long. What shipments feature are you speaking of? I find non in version 2.1.2 that I’m using.

Yes!
1st Enable the “Shipments” feature to be enabled on your site as follows:
Administration>Settings>General>Allow Users To Create Shipments (CHECKED)
Now, when you view an order through your admin panel under the Shipping Information section you will see a link called “New Shipment”, click the link and enter the shipment particulars for this order (Quantity of ordered items shipped, Carrier Name, Tracking Number, Notify Customer, etc.)

That actually creates more work for me. As far as I can tell you can’t generate a shipping label only input the tracking # and details. I need something that will generate the label, mark it as shipped and enter the tracking #. I’ve purchased the shippingkit.com plugin and will see how it integrates.
