We want to add “Please don’t click your browser’s ‘Back’ button while your order is processing” on the placing order page (the page which shows for sometime before order confirmation)… what is the file to make the changes?

You might be able to just change the language variables. There are two of them that make up the text you see. They are in Administration => Languages.
One is placing_order
The other is please_be_patient
That might be better than changing a file.
