I have gone thru all the templates and made changes, but i just don’t see any result.

I need my drop-downs to have a light grey on roll-over and need the font to be normal (not bold) and in #ffffff
ive tried everywhere, but the changes just don’t take place.
ALSO, can someone explain to me what the deal is with styles.css and styles.base.css?
i will need to make changes to both right?
This drop-down thing has been doing my head in and i have tried everything - i would only like to post here as a last resort.
