Divide secondery category into two columns

I want to divide my secondary categories into two columns now it is shown like this:

Apple

-------

iPad 2

iPad 3

iPhone 2G

iPhone 3G

iPhone 3GS

iPhone 4

iPhone 4S

iPod Touch 2G

iPod Touch 3G

iPod Touch 4G

and I want it have shown like this

Apple

-------

iPad 2 iPhone 4

iPad 3 iPhone 4S

iPhone 2G iPod Touch 2G

iPhone 3G iPod Touch 3G

iPhone 3GS iPod Touch 4G

How can I modify this? I have cscart 3.0.2 proffesional version and some of the main categories like iPhone 4 have two subcategories. I think this can be modified with css or the top_menu.tpl.
