Hi,
I’m currently trying out the demo of CS Cart. I sell books on my website. On the product page I need a way to display the author(s) of a given book (product) on the product details page. Is there a simple way to achieve this? I don’t want to put author names into the product description. For example, here is an amazon product page.
http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Heavy-Metal-Music-America/dp/0760742189/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285366029&sr=8-1
On this page I have the usual stuff, product image, product title, price and etc. If you look under the product title you will see the Author name as a hyperlink. If you click on the author you will see a list of their other books (products). This is exactly what I’m trying to achieve in my cs cart product pages. I’d also like to have authors be searchable as well. Can any one shed some light on how this could be achieved in CS Cart. Does it support something like this out-of-the-box or is there an addon for this?
Update: On my current carts I have this setup using manufactures. When you click on a manufacture on a product page you are displayed all the products they have available in the cart.
Set the authors up as a feature.
So will this allow the author name to be clickable and to view all products that this author has in our store?

Yes
Sno,
Are the product features really supposed to be links? How do I enable this feature?
That would really be a nice feature.
Regards,
Aleks

or you could use the free addon “flow” posted called brands addon.

I tried that but it doesnt work with 2.2.4 multi-vendor thanks for the suggestion though
After a 5 second thunk, I have a possible solution
For each Authur create a “hidden category” of the Authors name
ie. Douglas Adams
When you add a book, Add it to the category and the hidden author name as well.
So “Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” would be in Loading... and htttp://www.bookstore.com/dougas_adams
So for each book. You can just a link to the author category to the top of the Descripton. Or create 2 custom fields . Author & Author Link. to display it automagically.
Added bonus it would be really good seo too

After reading it again properly. Why don't you just rename manufactures to author??
