I’m going to upgrade my 1.33 version of CSC and wanted to know if the latest stock software now computes shipping based on dimensional weight? I had to write a mod to do a best shipping box fit for the the items I sell in v1.33. WIthout my mod, shipping calculations would not take into account all heavy items together that would fit into a flat rate box resulting in shipping cost being much too high, resulting in lost sales.
Still no dimensional weight shipping or even a basic option to ship an item boxed separately. You might want to add your comments to feature request in the Bug Tracker:

The sad part is that you should not need to do this again - the “ship separately” option should have been added some time ago as it it pretty straightforward and is offered by a number of competitors.
The maximum box weight feature requested in the Bug Tracker should also addressed. Customers should not be getting messages that no shipping is available just because they happened to order more than 150 lbs of product which can easily be broken into smaller packages.
Heck, they should be striving for full dimensional shipping support. The improved accuracy of this alone would encourage many store owners to consider CS-Cart over its competition.

Oh, and guess what?
UPS & FedEx both offers this really nifty pricing structure called HundredWeight pricing (FedEx refers to as MultiWeight). Basically for any shipment with a combined weight exceeding 200 Lbs shipping to the same location (regardless of the number of packages) they offer highly discounted shipping rates!
And guess what what?
No CS-Cart store owners can even take advantage of this because CS-Cart figures the entire order has to go into one single package, then of course it is now over 150 Lbs which exceeds the UPS/Fedex single package weight limitation of which time we receive “No shipping options are available”
Common CS-Cart, guaranteed you are loosing alot of potential customers that regularly ship orders over 150 lbs!

Anyone figure out any way to factor dimensional weight into the shipping calculations? I'm thinking of having a custom mod created to take product and box volumes in order to accurately calculate number of boxes and such
