The result of a simple comparison of the simple demo version of the two CMS Commerce:
CS-Cart latest version is slow first byte time in demo : 1370 - 1280ms
Magento latest version is very fast first byte time in demo : 136 - 288ms
CS-Cart 80 requests - 2.30 MB
Magento 220 requests! - 1.64 MB

I don't know how you are testing that but those results are incredibly far off from mine. TTFB for me is about 75ms for cscart.

Today, cs-cart is better result: 360 - 480ms
magento result: 100 - 200ms
I think cs-cart have pooped up their demo server. This is to multi-vendor, I don't even know the link to ultimate
