I contacted the developer about a converter that would convert a Cube Cart database to CSCart. I think it would be a money maker for them as I personally know a few users who would switch but don’t want to re-do all their products and options. Let’s see what the response is.
Not only from Cube cart but from others also … Those scripts are magic, any respectable forum has scripts to convert from any other forum Why not this great shopping cart ?
I guess it wil come in the future, just put it in the whishlist!
Cheers
I received this reply today:
“Thank you for contacting us.
We realize that there are potentially hundreds of CubeCart users who would be interested in CS-Cart software, so we are planning to release such a converting module approximately in 3 months. Unfortunately, our software architects do not have an opportunity to develop this module sooner, as they are working on other modules at the moment.
So we can only offer these potential CS-Cart users our custom development service now. Our development team can create the import products module for additional fee. Could you find out for us whether this way is acceptable for your client or not? I think this module should not cost much.
We look forward to your reply.”
I also requested them to import my old shop database and the costs will be $125 … Not only the price but also the waiting time bothers me … more than 20 days …
Ill look for other options ... too bad that they dan
t have scripts for such matters
Greetz Crisje
They quoted me a price that I thought was too high. I am negotiating. After all they will benefit from new users.
I think the same … but I will not negotiate because they take too long for the conversion … too bad
I need someone to convert my database real fast so I don`t want to waste any time …
When a database is converted does this include images which may possibly need size adjusting?

Images should stay native,
I believe that Roban is speaking of the structured database data.
Every script will have thier own ‘file’ system in effect and it’s a matter of changing it to suit the new script(s)
Unless images are stored in the database, and the ‘port’ has been successfully completed there shouldn’t a requirement to alter images.
[PS. Unsure of your skill-level with SQL but thought it might help other readers]

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for the quick answer.
The following page is in the file system of a LiteCommerce shop would it be easy to export and then import? Note I could convert the images to be in the database if that helps.
There are probably 9 catagories plus subcatagories and around 700 products.
My practical SQL ability is zero, although I understand the theory of how databases work - I want to learn step by step…

Unfortunately it’s not a ‘system’ to learn in theory. I personally was more or less forced to learn it as more things started going wrong then I initally intended (ie locking out my only admin account etc)
What you’ld be easier off doing (as far as my eye can see) with your site
is exporting all your products to an excel comma/tab delimited csv file,
editing the appropriate headers and uploading to cs-cart.
What Roban is suggesting is a simple conversion utility that will change the entire structure so it’s a “plug n play” workflow effetively making all store data available to cs-cart.

So are you saying that I can export/import all my products with images?
And Have CS cart accept the image sizes? Or do I need to resize all my photos? (Please don’t tell me this or I may cry)
It sounds like I would need to move the images from my file system to my database first, is that right?
So are you saying that I can export/import all my products with images?
I’ve never used LiteCommerce personally so can’t say if that’s possible or not
And Have CS cart accept the image sizes? Or do I need to resize all my photos? (Please don’t tell me this or I may cry)
IF the images are tied to the product, then by all means it just a requirement to place the images in the corresponding correct folder. You shouldn’t need to resize any of your images however a batch script in photoshop will save you some finger pushing.

We would prefer to have images available in “clear”(site.com/image.jpg) rather then stuffed in the database. It’s easier to create a folder on a server then it is to inject 1000’s on images into it. Additionally it’s faster loading if it’s available from the server
I am also struggling with my import and it still fails … I modified the tags and separated them the way it was ment, but with no luck!
I also tried to export/import the categories first, still no luck …
It starts to bug me this awfull method … Its way too bad that csCart has no scripts for it...
t attract New Clients !

A big weakness I must say ... this way they don
Cs-Cart are considering the possibility of creating a database conversion script. No other details are availalble at present
I beleive they are making it high priority to create conversion scripts from the popular carts such as cube and osc… The problem is, theres no way they could include every single cart known to mankind…
I will have the Cube Cart script in a couple of weeks. This script will deal specifically with products and product options. I was able to make a deal that is acceptable. I was told that scripts for other carts are on the schedule but that other modules of higher priority will come first so I wouldn’t look for them anytime soon.
We paid $350 for an xcart conversion that has been totally stuffed up. It was scheduled to be finished Feb 20 and it was done yesterday and is totally stuffed up. Not happy.
