Custom Block Positions?

Is there a way to create custom block positions? For example, above the top position, creating three positions horizontally across. Then be able to create blocks in these positions in the backend block manager.

Not in the current versions, they are looking at adding this in the future.

I understand that the feature is not available through the admin panel, but isn’t there a way to modify the templates? Can you help me know which files control the block positions?

Not easily and not something I looked at putting the effort into.

Can you give me a hint about what part of the code and what files set the block positions?
