So I was told by a few people there is no possible way to be PCI compliant and pass any pci scan if you are not on a totally dedicated server? Is this true? Seems dedicated servers these days run 100’s a month, and I can only afford a semi dedicated server?
Currently using Paypal Pro via the website to charge credit cards.
You can get a VPS to be compliant. Your hosting company can best advise you on PCI compliance in their ennvironment. The vast majority of compliance issues relate to the server, not to the application.
When I was using PayPal Pro I had to do PCI scans. I no longer do them because I use Stripe, which, because of the way it captures CC data, is out of scope for PCI.
Paypal is 2.2% with $0.20 swipe, Stripe is 2.9 with $0.30 swipe and 2.0 over that for international customers (we have lots of). Any other options that are comparable to Swipe that are lower rates?
Thanks will look into this option. Hate paying that extra $40 just to pass those crazy PCI money making laws.
Yeah but if you're like me, you definitely couldn't survive the fines if you were held accountable for a breach.
I do not see a plug in for stripe, could I ask how you set that up? Thanks

It's an add-on I got from here:

Works great! Been using it for over a year now with no problems. It was a win-win for me because I no longer pay the $30/month gateway fee PayPal was charging and I don't have to worry about PCI.
well shot I have version 3. That shows version 4 only.

You have to look around a little sometimes.
Thanks giving it a order now. Not sure how to install so paid extra, but really need it installed like yesterday
Did you sign up for an account with Stripe? You'll need account information from them in order to set up the add-on to receive payments.
Sorry for the late response, yes I did sign up with them. Finding out now we were hacked with that test.gif and thump thing. Deleted all that but now worried I should change my admin page name? Or will that matter?
