Creating a New Filing Method

Hi All



Has anyone tried to create a new filing method for their blocks?



I would like to create an updated version of the Popularity option for Products, whereby it only returns the most popular items for a specific category.



Any help would be appreciated.

I have created my own addon which can sorts by popularity but only for products in the selected category id.



To use it:


  1. Unzip the folder
  2. Upload the folder to the main addon location (i.e. not the one on the skins location)
  3. Go to Administration > Addons
  4. Install the Best in Category addon
  5. Create a new block on your homepage with the filling method Best in Category
  6. Select the Category Id that you wish to filter the results by



    If anyone would like to improve on this so that the category id field is a dropdown of the different categories please feel free and post back to this thread.



    If you would like to use this on your own websites please also feel free.

It doesn't work with 3.0.2 It's hard to rewrite this addon to new version?
