We are wanting to run a black friday/cyber monday sale that will discount all of our products 30%. However, we also do not want the customer to be able to enter any promo codes that we currently have running to get an additional 10-25% off. My question is if I create a catalog promotion and click the box next to “stop other rules”, does that cancel out any cart promotions when they enter a coupon code?
If not, is there a way to do this or will I have to disable all promotions except the 30% catalog sale until it has completed?

If you select the Stop other rules check box, it will not cancel your cart promotions. It will affect only the catalog promotions which have lower priority than your 30% discount catalog promotion. So yes, you should better disable all unnecessary cart promotions until your catalog promotion expires.
