Cookies And Eu Law

EU law requires that no cookies are stored unless the user gives his/her consent. Also, the used needs to be aware of what cookies are stored and be able to select which they will accept. Is there any addon which meets these requirements?

the later versions have it in addons, but there are also 3rd party services

Hi,

we are using Klaro! it's a free (and open source) third party tool that does exactly what you need it to do.

The design is great and it's fully customizable.

The latter, however, is also it's greatest challenge, as all changes have to be made in the config.js file.

So there's no nice interface that allows you to optimize and customize it, you'll have to do all of that with the help of the documentation.

It all comes down to how familiar you are with JavaScript, but once set up correctly, Klaro! is a really powerful tool.

Which standard addon are you referring to?

It's GDPR compliance right?

Well... this does not exactly meet the EU regulation. You need to inform the visitor about the type of cookies stored and the visitor should be allowed to select which cookies he wants to receive. The GDPR compliance addon does not offer this.

This seems great but unfortunately I am not familiar with Javascript. Do you know if there is anyone who could help me set this up?

Ive used this website that helps you create legal policies for your website. They are a few online and charge for the service. I was wondering if I put a link for my cookie policy on the literature, where people can click onto, then even just using the standard GDPR add on should be enough? The only thing that would need to be changed is the literature to do that. Question is how do you change that literature?

I am not sure but I don't think so. The EU requirements are very specific.
