Considering CS-Cart for a music download store

CS-Cart allows to sell downloadable products, I will explain how this feature works in our software.



When a customer purchases a downloadable product, an email with a download link is sent to the customer. Before the customer could get the access to a download page, the administrator should switch the order status to ‘Processed’ or ‘Completed’ in CS-Cart admin panel. After it is done, CS-Cart will send an email to the customer with a link inside where the customer will be able to download the purchased software. This link contains secure key which saves download page from unauthorized access.



It is also possible to upload several different files (as well as Preview files) to a product on the Files tab of a product details page in CS-Cart admin panel:

As for the file sizes, the ability to have such large files does not depend on CS-Cart. It depends on:

  1. your server space
  2. the setting “upload_max_filesize” of your server (it can be viewed in phpinfo)
  3. connection on the client’s side

I run 3 cs-cart shops, absolutely love it, and it can certainly do what you want, but my honest advice would be to go with http://www.tipsandtr…g-securely-1059 for what you want to do. Use Amazon S3 for the delivery of your files and you'll even be able to run your shop on a cheap shared hosting. I just set this up for a friends and it's just so super easy to make a good looking wordpress site, and that little plugin is great for digital delivery. Easy does it.

I would also like to use the downloadable feature of CS-Cart, but I would like to have a sample of the music that I am offering. I think that this is probably going to be a complicated answer for me. Does CS-Cart have the ability to offer a sample of a downloadable product (like music) on the product page?
