My company had developed some cs-cart add-on for our client.
Used there technology may be also interested for you.
This tool allows user to change colours of clothes.
There are several predefined sets that can be changed.
After user have chosen some colours system will show the products that match this colours and user might add some products to his cart.
It uses html5 + JS technology (without Flash), so it work on apple iPhone and iPad very well;

(because it's cut from real page, to show you only that part of our work, there are some troubles with viewing it in IE, i won't fix it because it's only for demo purpose. In real site it works well in all browsers. and it won't show you any products also)
