Clone in URL why?

I cloned product #8 renamed it product 9 and ended up with the following url which is ok except that it has the word “clone”. Is this a bug that i need to report or am I doing something wrong?

Note in 1.3.5 I did not have this problem

This is in 2.08 with the SEO add-on

When you clone a product, the original product’s name plus “clone…” is put in the SEO title field. You have to delete the information and leave it blank then save the product. The correct SEO title will then populate the field.

Hope this helps.

Many Thanks - all is well and in 2.10 this bug will befixed.

This is NOT a bug. It is a feature. When you clone a product the new product is disabled and clone is added to its name. This is a reminder to the store owner that cloned products still need to be touched up before going live. I think it is a great reminder feature.

I had this same issue. I found that if you turn off SEO if you are going to clone many products then after you are done you can turn SEO back on and you should be ok. Or just go into the product under the add on tab look where it says SEO Name: Just remove what is there and it will re-create the correct name.

An interesting point of view - which I respect and strongly disagree with.

When I clone I typically need to only change a color and I want the clone enabled with the correct url asap.

I do not want to visit other tabs (SEO) in this case, enable and so on I need to move fast as time is limited for me.

If some need reminders than the settings should be optional then all will be happy.

Good points and I am now following them.

1.3.5 was faster in that you did not need to visit another tab.

Yeah… I miss 1.3.5 a whole lot. I really hate how the SEO is in a different tab and the product manufacturer. I also like the drop down menu 1.3.5 had instead of the current setup.
