Clearing out shopping cart after order processed

Using CS 3.X and PayPal as the payment processor.

I have a lot of repeat customers and, even after they have successfully placed an order, the items will still be in their cart when they return even a few days later.

Just looking for suggestions on the best way to make sure this does not happen. I want to protect carts that are still being filled, but want them emptied once the payment is processed.

Thank you for your message.

Generally, this issue should not happen. When a customer places an order via PayPal, the cart should be cleared by default if the order is paid successfully and the customer returns to the store after he/she paid the order on the PayPal website. The problem requires examination on your server. Please contact us via Customer Help Desk and provide temporary access to your server by clicking on the Add record link on the Access information page of your Help Desk account so that we could examine the issue.
