Can i have SSL without the 'www' ?

Hi, I made a small mistake when i ordered my SSL certificate; it will only work under; https://mysite.com - not https://www.mysite.com

Im concerned that having a secure checkout process minus the 'www' might affect return urls (or something I haven't even thought of) for payment processors etc?

Or can i still use the SSL certificate minus the 'www' ? (I understand how to configure it in config.local.php but want to check on the general functionality)

Thanks,

Scott.

Most work for both. If not you could just move your store and all return urls to non-www.

Thanks Flow.

I am not sure what cert you bought but you should be able to return it or reconfigure as already mentioned.

I use AlphaSSL which is good for both www and without www by default for around $12.95 per year.

Most certificates issued wo www.somedomain.com will work for both that and somedomain.com. However, an ssl issued for somedomain.com will not work for the host 'www' nor any other host/sub-domain for somedomain.com

As Traveler said, most site will allow re-issues to fix mistakes. But there should be NO problem with just using the domain name (without hostname) for anything. If your nameserver resolves the domain name to a valid IP address and your site is configured to use somedomain.com then all should work fine without change.
