By 1 product get 1 product free

I've been searching all over the forum and haven't found a solution to my promotion problem I'm having right now.

Basically I want to allow a customer to purchase one product and they'll get their choice of any 1 product from a category.

It seems simple enough, but I can't get it to work right. The closest I've gotten is to make all of the products in the category free, which obviously is no good.

Has anyone had something like this coded or have any ideas?

Thanks,

Brandon

It's impossible out of the box as far as I know… maybe you can do something with the buy together add-on and a promotion?

Hey Floris, it's been a while.

Yep, I know that it can't be done straight out of the box, but there have been a ton of posts wanting the same thing, so I'm kind of hoping that someone has already come up with a solution. If they did, I'd love to purchase it from them.

If no one has had this done, than there's always a first time for everything I guess.

Thanks,

Brandon

Yep. It's strange how so many people find something crucial and then don't do anyhing about it. Or they just stop responding in the bugtracker even though cs-cart is trying to help them.

Something else: What I would also like is a way to make product combinations. Maybe we can make an add-on that does both or order 2 addons at once and share the costs. Or if you don't want my add-on, i'd still be happy to share the costs on yours.

I would like to be able to:

Add a new product. For example: Skin Care gift set for Dad for price X

This would contain an x amount of other products, all available in the shop, that I can choose.

Customers can buy this product as one, but inventory for the products that are in this package will be deducted from inventory.

OR … I would even mind if the products are added to the cart separately for the discounted price. This could become confusing though.

What do you think?
