Is there a way for customers to buy products in my cs-cart store without having to sign up? A LOT of people don't want to go trough the process of signing up and thats making me not sale as much as I could.
Have you enabled Guest checkout?
Just a question. Would buying as a GUEST be more prone to fraudulent orders?
Thanks

Absolutely… We tried this… Guest checkout is not worth it… Don't do it…

Why would it be? The “customer” still has to input an email address, billing and shipping address. The only difference a customer would visibly see is the requirement to enter a password. Even then, if a “customer” uses the Guest checkout option, they have the option to create an account after completing the checkout anyway.
The one and only thing which can assist in preventing fraudulent orders is secure validation settings with your payment provider. Catch 22. Genuine customers also regularly fail if you set the validation requirements too high.
The most common fraud I see with CS-Cart (and not exclusively to CS-Cart either) is the “customer” puts a billing and shipping address at your checkout, yet some - not all - payment processors allow the “customer” to change the billing address once the “customer” is on their site to input card details. CS-Cart shows the Billing/Shipping address in CS-Cart, all looks genuine, then you check your payment processor to find the “customer” has changed the Billing address (to the billing address of the fraudulent card they are using). IMO, this is wrong and should be fixed by CS-Cart. I already had to edit the SagePay processors files and my SagePay settings to prevent this from happening. Ever since…not a single fraudulent transaction.
Hopefully things will be a little different now with the API release, as this should allow integration of 3rd party anti-fraud measures such as '3rd Man'. However, nothing in the way of anti-fraud protection actually works more efficiently than common sense. Better to be safe than sorry.
We have over half of our customers checkout using Guest checkout…people wanna get in and get out when buying online, just like buying in a real store, (well men at least so guest checkout is a must have for us.
I would at least try it then make up your mind.
Stellar.
I enable guest checkout during promotions because many buyers like to get in and out quickly.
It's almost silly in a way because buyers usually experience some slow down anyway at major sites.
I mainly accept PayPal so I make a habit of checking the address on the Order against the one supplied at PayPal. I always send to the address in the PayPal transaction.
Guest checkout is a little inconvenient at times when Registered customers use it.
Makes it hard to keep a record of my best buyers.
Unless your registered customers are using different email addresses for every order, they should be prompted to sign in when attempting to checkout as a guest.
I don't agree with limiting the customers options at checkout outwith “promotions” times. The entire purpose of an online store is to make shopping online easier, more accessible, open all day, every day. In effect, you're running the store with the lights turned out.
It will be difficult to gauge the effect this has on your conversions as you would likely experience an increase in traffic during promotions anyway. Try comparing your conversions and abandoned carts between having guest checkout enabled and disabled. I wouldn't be surprised to find you increase conversions by switching the lights back on.
Ask yourself the question…do you always sign up fully at web stores when purchasing ?
