blank index.php page

Hi there,

I have searched all over the threads on the forum, and have found a few threads referencing my issue, but did not really see the exact resolution. So gonna toss this out there.

Clean install a new CS-Cart on www.syntecscientific.com. I can access the admin page, but the index.php comes up completely blank. I can’t for the life of me figure out why.

I am NOT a PHP expert by any means, but have built some sites. I did read other threads, and based on that, I tried this to troubleshoot by confirming that the SEO tools are turned off, which I read can lead to this issue.

The only thing I might point to is that perhaps the setting on my files are not set to the correct permissions. I have had a heck of a time even getting it installed because my hosting company controls the permissions. But I sent them all the requirements listed in the install guide and they should be set properly.

But any help that anyone can give me would be huge.

Thanks in advance

E

Talk to your hosting provider.

A blank page tells me everything is wrong and not exactly what it could be.

Could be as bad as PHP not being provided in many cases I’ve seen.

I mean, I will absolutely talk to them, but can you give me a bit more insight as to what I am asking them? The admin section works, which should signify that PHP is working on the site…correct?

Do you have a backup ?

How many products are listed on your site ?

Is this default cs-cart skins or your own modified skins

Hello emoney68,

Please make sure that the “index.php” file located in the root directory of the installation has 644 permissions and that the content of this file does not contain any strange or malicious code. Also I suggest that you should follow the instructions in the “Blank CS-Cart pages or a functionality failure” article of our Knowledge base: [url]CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

Hey guys

Thanks for all the feedback thus far. Let me try and answer some of the questions.

  • This is a brand new install of CS-Cart, so I have no real products in yet (just the sample ones), no custom skins. No real need for a backup yet as this is all fresh.

  • Pavel, I do not see any bad code in the index.php file. I can email you a text version if that would help. I confirmed that my php on the site is running, it is 5.2.1. The settings on the index.php file are 666. I will have to ask the hosting provider to switch that to 644 if needed, because I cannot get the permissions changed via FTP (dreamweaver).

I read over that link, and the only thing that is over my head is the concept of safe mode being on or off.

Pavel, if you would be willing to help, I would gladly PM you with FTP and/or admin access to the cart to help troubleshoot.

I have installed a cart before a year or so ago, with this same hosting provider, and I did not run into any real issues, so not really sure what I am doing wrong, but would really love some help.
