I know this has been asked before, but there are so many different answers and code changes that I was hoping for one straightforward answer.
On registration & Order page I would like to only show HTML newsletter option and I would like it to be checked automatically.
How can I achieve this?
I am running version 2.2.4
Also, if someone is already subscribed and they place another order, will it subscribe them again or unsubscribe them if they uncheck the box?

Some code modifications are required to implement this feature. We would be happy to assist you in this matter within our technical support service. Please contact us via Customer Help Desk if you have support credits or an active support period.
As regards subscribing to a mailing list when placing an order, if a customer is already subscribed to a mailing list, nothing will happen at the moment of placing the next order if he/she does not select a check box of the mailing list. The customer will still be subscribed to this mailing list.
