Another tax question

Hi Alex,

When you sell a item to anyone in the USA you do not have to charge sales tax. In california you only charge tax if they live in california. How do I set this where it only charges tax on california addresses.

Thank you for your great software

Dear flasher,

At first you need to add new destination zone (for example name it ‘USA-CA’) on “Manage destinations” page through your Administrator’s back-end. Then click on “Edit” button next to that new destination zone to open its details page. Select “United states” in “Countries” section on the right side and click on “<<” button to move it to the left box. In the list of states below select “United States: California” and click on “<<” button to move it to the left box too. Leave rest of boxes empty on the left side. Click on “Update” button at the bottom of the page to save these changes.

Then open “Manage taxes” page (the link to this page is in “SHIPPINGS/TAXES” side box on the left of the page), add new tax, click on “Edit” button next to its name. On the tax properties page select “USA-CA” value from “Show rate for destination” select box and enter a rate value (absolute or percent). Click on “Update” button below to save these changes.

Follow directions above, given by lantan.

The final step, which is easy to overlook is to apply the tax to your products. So from the Manage Taxes page, be sure to check the box next to your “Tax” and then click “Apply selected taxes to to all products”.

Your taxes should now be working!

yes, thanks, i figured that out after i posted, i apologise for not letting you guys know.
