Hi,
I did search the forum, but did not find an answer to my Problem
For a particular category of Products, I have a List Price (manufactures Suggested Retail Price) and I have a Price ( I call “Your Price”). set at 10% lower than the list price. CS-CART indicates the 10% Discount.
Now I want to generate a coupon for 30% off the List Price. I used when setting up the coupon “by percentage of Original Price” = 30. The original price appears to be the Price (Your Price) and not the List Price. So what happens is CS-CART calculates 30% off the Price, which is already discounted 10%.
A there a way around this?
Other products that I want a continuous discount, I use promotions and I do not have the Price different from the List Price. I then use Promotions with the appropriate priorities set and “stop other rules” appropriately set.
I could probably change all the products in the category, but want to know first if there is another way or a mod to create a 30% off the list price.
Thanks,
Bob
List Price is just for show…it isn’t used for anything else.
Give coupon for 20% since you already have 10% discounted.
Hi the Tool,
When you take 20% off the price after 10% is already taken off, its not the same as taking 30% off the List Price.

The Tool,
I get confused also, but this should end the confusion.
Go to this product:

The List Price is 39.95. The Price (Your Price) is 35.95. This is 10% off list price and is indicated by cs-cart…
I want a coupon that would give the customer 30% off the List Price , $39.95, which would be: $27.97.
If I issue a 30% off Coupon then the “Your Price” becomes: $25.16, which is 30% off 35.95 and not 30% off 39.95.
I can’t actually take your advice and issue a 20% off coupon due to the promotion being 30% OFF, but if I did, then the “Your Price” would be 28.76. Neither method gives the desired Price of 27.97, which is 30% off the List price.
I guess what I have to do is to make the “list price” the same as the “price” and use stacked promotions. It works with other products, I just have this category of products set up this way so I don’t have to use the promotion method to indicate a discount from the suggested retail price.
Just thought someone might have the same situation and have a “work a round”.
Thanks,
Bob
Name the coupon “30% off list price” and only give 20% discount. This will give another 20% off of the already 10% discounted “Your Price”.?
Tee hee…
But that’s still not 30% off of original amount.
$100 price
10% off = $90
20% off of $90 = $72
30% off of $100 = $70.
Ain’t math fun? 22.23% off of $90 will get you as close as you can get with price rounding.
Not sure why he doesn’t just make list and price the same and then add a catalog promotion for the product to take 30% off of it.
tbirnseth,
I am going to do what you said. Will change the price temporarily and then change back.
I did this once before and forgot to change the price back for a week on several products. Was trying to make it idiot proof (me).
Thanks,
Bob

I pretty much feel like an idiot right about now.
Note to self: No brainstorm posting when experiencing flu like symptoms.
LOL… I just couldn’t resist! It’s all good.
