Aligning Short Grids On Same Line

I am trying to make 3 vertical panels on the page. I am trying to make horizontal grids of 4-8-4. I tried breaking up an existing grid of 16 but I can't get the grids to line up . I tried starting from scratch but after I created the 4 with grid the same grid button wouldn't let me add more grids.

I tried varying left and right but no help overall. Any help would be appreciated.
