You can simple fix it by editing the design/themes/YOUR_THEME/templates/addons/ecl_ref_link/hooks/profiles/my_account_menu.post.tpl template.
Just replace the following part of code:

with this one:
href="{"profiles.update"|fn_url}#ref_link"

A couple of questions about this addon:
Is it possible to send the customer a referral link with their order?
Is it possible to send the customer a unique referral code in their parcel? i.e. print out a referral code on the packing slip or separately.
I have seen some of the largest webshops do this.
Is it possible to give the referrer 5% credit for everything the new customer buys for the next 180 days?
Is it possible to give the new customer 5% discount on their first order?
If not, would you consider to add such features?

Agreed. It would be great if we could just export all our customers along with their referral codes..
We do our own in house email marketing so this would be awesome..
How do you know witch order is made via referral link ? Is it somehow labeled ?
Also I am not sure why there is two types of awards to be selected by default

What if I do not use reward points only gift certificate or only coupon codes?

Let me explain. From the provided example the Referrer (the person by whose ref link, the customer is came to the store, in other words, the owner of ref link) will receive $100 Gift certificate. The invited customer (Referral, person, who clicked on the ref link) will receive 20 Reward points after purchasing. E.g.
1. ReferrER - $100 Gift certificate
2. ReferrAL - 20 Reward points
You can use any reward type for any customer type. Hope it is clearer now.
What if I am not using points and do not want to honor person who came by link only one who posted url ?
OK i got it now, if I set 2. ReferrAL - 0 Reward points then I give nothing to person who came via url
