Adding surcharge to groups of products?

Is there any way to add a surcharge to a group of products? I need to be able to charge ‘fresh’ goods at a higher delivery charge then non fresh goods - per order, not per item?



Can this be done - or is there an add-on available that could do it?

Hi Phil,

I’ve just paid ($200) CS to develop this for me. They created a new Catalog Promotion bonus called “product surcharge”:

[quote]1. We will add the ability to add the “Product surcharge” bonus in promotions (zone equal to Catalog).

2. The “to percentage of the original price” and “by percentage of the original price” options for this bonus will function in the opposite way as the ones from the “Product discount” bonus.

For example:

  • if the “Product surcharge” bonus is applied for products and the “to percentage of the original price” option equals 110, then 10% will be added to the prices of all products.
  • if the “Product surcharge” bonus is applied for products and the “by percentage of the original price” option equals 5, then 5% will be added to the prices of all products.



    Item: Shirt

    Price: $10



    1st Catalog Promotion applied to this item:

    Condition: Product Feature

    Bonus: Product Surcharge / percentage of the original price = 150



    Price displayed to customer: $15



    2nd Catalog Promotion applied to this item:

    Condition: User Membership

    Bonus: Product Discount / by fixed amount = 5



    Price displayed to customer:

    Old price: $15.00

    Price: $10.00

    You save: $5.00 (33%)

    The “Product Feature” in your case could be “freshness”. I don’t want customers to be aware of the “base” price (my net cost), as I use the Product Surcharge to add my profit margin.



    I also had CS develop a modification ($480) to the “Search by Price” and “Price Filter” so that Catalog Promotions are included in the price calculation.

… we kind of found a work around by giving fresh goods a weight of 1001g and other items a weight of 0 - then applied the shipping options for product by weight - seems to work, but I’m surprised it’s not a standard feature.
