Adding a cost price field to item plus different cost price for each variation?

Hi,



So that we can calculate the value of sales each month, I need to add a cost price field to each item, but also to each variation of the item (as variations have different costs).



I've found this thread below which explains how to do the former (not tested it yet) but does anyone know how I could add a cost price to an item variation? Is it even possible?

Also, I would need to the cost price to be hidden from public via plus it would have to be included in the database, so I could export that field along with sales for offline work.

I don’t know, personally I use an accounting software program to keep track of actual product costs as well as calculating gross profit margin reports, it is a wonderful thing & extremely accurate! :)
