Add a Search Block to Nav Bar Using a Hook

Good Evening,



I am slowly trying to wrap my head around how to write more extensive addons and modifications for CSC.



To get my feet wet I wanted to try and add a Search Block to the end of the Nav Bar Using a Hook.



Anyone have any experience with this?

OK, maybe a dumb question, by why use a hook? Just make it a block and use CSS to make it blend in. Something like:
