Accidental Duplicate Orders - How to Fix?

I launched my site on Saturday. Last night, one person who ordered evidently hit the “Place Order” button twice. His card was charged twice (I use PayPal Pro) and I now have two orders for him in my system. I called him and he only wanted one order.

Is there a way to delete this order from the system, restore the inventory, and refund his credit card?

Thanks in advance for help.

Cancelling the order should restore the inventory. You will have to go to your PayPal account to issue a refund.

OK I’ve done that. Thanks for the help.

Just one more reason that I agree with you Kingsleypress in regards to having the ability to setup Paypal Pro (or any other credit card gateway for that matter) to either Authorize then manually Capture or just Capture at the store owners discretion! We have had our stores (non CS-Cart) setup to Authorize only for a couple years now and having that extra control over the final Capture amount for each order is “priceless” to us!

I agree - the ability to capture modified payments in the admin separate from the authorization would be so beneficial.

Honestly, it is the only way to run a complex store (As in Authorize 1st, then Capture secondly at your convenience).

I remember back a couple of yrs ago thinking to myself “Having to do an extra step on each order is going to be a major hassle”…Not at all the case!

Having that ability to do final tweaks (shipping adjustments, product addons or changes, etc) on every order before capturing the funds literally saves us a ton of extra work and headaches as well! We actually look at the shipping choice our customers have made on each order and continually make changes that they will benefit from (quicker delivery for less shipping cost), adjust there orders accordingly and capture for a lesser amount than they originally planned on…customers are quite pleased, it is a win/win situation! We could not do this if every order was fully captured when the order is placed…

You have this working on CS-Cart? Or are you speaking about some other software?

Not yet with CS-Cart, I was referring to the two stores we are in the process of moving to CS-Cart which are ASP based carts. :frowning:

I will be pushing hard to get this seperate authorize/capture feature into CS-Cart!
