I could swear that either sno or ez-ms had made an add-on that emailed users who abandoned their carts after x number of days just as a little reminder to the potential customer? Is this an add-on that’s been created or am I imagining it?

You can actually do it from your CS-Cart Newsletter now
Imagination can be a wonderful thing… But no addon like that from me. I thought this was going to be integrated into 2.1.x, that was one of the big deals about 2.1.x if I recall. But don’t rely on my memory!

Does it give them a link to their abandoned cart so they can complete checkout? Does it provide for any promotions? Does it list the cart?

From what I’ve seen, no it doesn’t do any of the above mentioned things… It’s basically just a way to send newsletters to those who have created profiles and abandoned their carts or created wish lists.
The promotions would have to be mentioned manually via a newsletter… It doesn’t list any cart information.

Would be nice to pull the cart details especially as it’s all been logged anyway for us to look at in admincp.
Hmmm maybe I can’t just create a default newsletter offering help with their purchase as we like our customers to have a painless ordering system
So if one were to create an addon that completed the functionallity that should be there, would there be enough interest where I might actually make a dime? Lately I get lots of interest, but then few buyers. Makes me reluctant to invest in making things without “donations” first…
But an addon could be developed that would list the abandoned carts that had contact info. One could select from those carts to generate an email with a promotion that could be selected from the active promotions. It would use the promotion description tas “part” fo the email body. The email would list the cart contents for the user with links to the products that were in the cart.
Hence you could search for “abandoned carts that are 3 days old that have contact information”. You would select the items and select the promotion (if any). It would then send an email based on a template to the customer offering them the promotion to return to your site and purchase. It might just add the promotion to the stored cart and you could show them what the new total would be… Brainstorming here…
An alternative would be a simple discount. I.e give them 5% off if they purchase one or more of the products that are in the abandoned cart. The stored cart would be adjusted to have a 5% discount to the product total.

This mod seem like it would be beneficial to some cart owners.
My problem is that most of my many abandon carts have no contact information. The customer just adds the item to the cart, and never goes to the checkout.cart (I have it configured for them to go here first) page or goes to the checkout.checkout page and never fills out any information.
I have been getting several Incomplete orders with contact information and maybe a mod would be useful to me in this situation. There are, however, many more abandon carts with no contact information than incomplete orders with contact information.

Doubtful a mod like this would be attractive, or even serve any useful porpose. For example I show a total of 84 Abandoned Carts on our site, yet only 2 of these records have any contact details to even make contact with them, and of these 2 both of them actually came back & completed an order within days later… 
I view the Abandoned Carts listing as an information tool only, like most other log files.
Okay, good thing I asked! 
I also noticed at various customer sites that the rate of carts without contact info is about 10 to 1 (at least)…
