500 Internal Server Error

I have the following error on my site. I am able to access and use the front end of site, can place new orders and checkout - all seems fine. I am not able to login to the Admin panel. I get a 500 error.

I have not made any changes to server config and all was working fine on Friday.

On the advice of my ISP I have restored the database to Friday mornings backup when all was working fine. This did not help. I cannot login and clear cache so I have cleared it manually by deleting the files in the var/cache and var/compiled folders. This still has not eneabled me to login to the admin panel.

Please can someone help with what to try next??

Many thanks

Janine
