Finally looking to upgrade my live site, seem to recall this involves adding 4.2.2 in a new subfolder and then importing 3.0.6 into it - but can't find the details to follow exactly. Can someone point me in the direction of the help file please.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks Kingsley, no wonder I didn't find it, saw that and thought it was something to do with multi vendor versions.
Now need a few more fingers to cross in hope it goes well, looking at the forum it seems a few people have had problems.
Yes it can definitely be tricky. Make sure you have good backups of everything before you start.
As I see it you don’t need backups as the live site is not changed. If it goes wrong that won’t be affected - don’t worry me now
Great ! that didn’t take long to bust - Enter path to store - “Error The specified directory does not exist. Please check if the path you entered is correct.” it is
Done that now - needed “home” on the path, strange as it's not part of the path I see but there ya go. Update has now been running for about 2 hours.
Still processing 20 hours now what is the record achieved ?
In the var/upgrade there should be log files. Please check when they were updated last time.
Thanks for your help eCom, looks like it ran for about 20 mins but didn't move to the next step. I suspect it'll take more then that as the are over 4,000 products and about 4 years of orders.
I've cleaned the old database and now having another go at it.
Just found another log in store_update
We have recently made an upgrade with 18000 products and 16000 orders. It took us about 12 hours

Did you make any changes to the script ? I’ve changed the number of rows by 50% and the number of passes too. If it doesn’t work this time I’ll increase them to make it work faster

Do you mean the DB_ROWS_PER_PASS parameter in add-on files? Yes, it was changed from 40 to 4000. DB_MAX_ROW_SIZE does not change anything, in my opinion.
Spent too long on this, I can't get it to complete. Seems to run for 20 mins and then just returns to the store import screen.
Guess I'll stay with 3.06 then.
May be the process is stopped due to timeout settings?

Decided to have one more go and now it seems to be working as it's reporting what it is doing as it goes. I think the problem was Varnish - although I had disabled - I deleted the instance and get the above result. Strange as I didn't think the script would be going though port 80 at all to do it's job. Seems Varnish effects the reporting and that stops it doing it's job.
Thank you for sharing this info,
Well it's been running overnight and the progress bar has got no further then 5mm and the log file seems around the same size as the other. I'm assuming it's stopped but I'll leave the rest of the day to see if it's just the data import. Really need a way to tell if it's doing anything.
