2Checkout Anyone?

Im thinking of signing up with www.2checkout.com as an alternative to PayPal. Does anyone here use them or anyone have any thoughts about them?

I can only say one thing about them: Don’t.

There rates are about 45 times higher than PayPal, and I have heard rumors that they may be getting closed down by Visa, Mastercard ect. for “Unethical business practices”.

Not to mention the fact that you won’t get the industry leading fraud protection of PayPal, and to accept payments from 2CO customers have to leave your website. If you get PayPal Pro people can pay right on your website, you also get a payment gateway so you can accept orders over the phone and by mail.

And no, I don’t have stock in the company:rolleyes: I’m just a happy customer.

Theres my 2 cents.

Thanks for your imput Brandito

Fee’s wise theyre not much higher than PayPal at 5.5% and $0.45 per transaction and i like that they offer BACS transfer instead of having to wait a week with paypal :frowning:

Im having a nightmare with paypal at the moment, every order i try to put through results in “invoice already paid” error:mad: although it works fine on my partners account.

Can i ask where you’ve heard these rumours?..is there anyone posted online?

Ive signed up for the time being as a current customer recommended them.

“BACS payments take three working days to clear” - From Wikipedia

I don’t know who told you that PayPal takes a week… But if someone pays you with a credit card your account is credited instantly.

And lets do the math of those percentages… Lets say you sell $500 a week, lets also say each sale is $25. So for each sale with 2CO there is a .45 surcharge, so that will be $9 a week. Now we have to subtract 5.5% out of $500 which is $27.50. So with 2CO you will be paying $36.50 a week.

But, if you went with paypal and you paid $.30 a transaction, and 2.7% you would be paying $19.50 a week. Which is a savings of $68 a month, and $816 a year… Pretty substantial if you ask me…

What are you trying to do here? Are you trying to do something in CS Cart?

I don’t know where they are off the top of my head, but I’ll see if I can dig them up.

I am talking about paypal standard which currently takes a week from withdrawl to reach my bank account. PayPal currently charge me 3.4% and £0.20 per transaction with each transaction being around £15.00 (I am in the UK).

All was working fine until Friday but now i cannot use MY paypal account with CS and am now having to use my partners because there is the error i mentioned before with every order attempt. Its obviously not CC because it works perfectly with the other account but PayPal have no idea what the problem is.

I lost three orders yesterday, these three people spoke to me on my live chat to tell me the problem and when testing myself the problem is there too. While now i have changed over to my partners paypal account and everything is fine its obviously not ideal. Hence now im looking for another solution. My turnover doesnt warrant a full fledged Merchant Account so third party providers are the only solution right now

So far ive not been able to find any worse stories about 2CO for the last couple of years and ofcourse paypal have their horror stories too.

Hmm… Have you looked thru all of your settings like IPN, sandbox ect? To see if they are the same? It would appear, unless there is a serverside error on the PayPal side that something got messed up or changed.

That’s what I love about PayPal pro, you get all the perks of a full merchant account like a payment gateway, but it only costs $20 a month. And still get the low surcharges of a regular merchant account, and on top of that there are NO hidden fees like matinence fees, gateway fees ect. it is just a flat $20 plus the standard per-transaction fees.

Have you tried a ‘nochex merchant account’ ?

Fees ar £0.20 per transaction and depending on how much you process anywhere from 2.9% down… with no monthly fees

Theres also a nochex module for CS-Cart which works quite well, Im not sure why they have not publicised it…

Altough withdrawal times are going to be almost the same everywhere, once you get selling though, you will have a regular flow (hopefully)

I also use Paypal pro, and must say… Im very very impressed with it.

You can never have too many ways to take money

Ummmm, you wouldn’t have these problems if you were using Echo instead of PP.

PM me for more info.

Why does he need to PM you? Theres a free nochex mod in the third party mods section…

Read some terrible things about nochex, mainly on their own forum LOL.

Not even heard of Echo:confused:

Nochex (non merchant) isnt that great…

As for their merchant account, Ive used it since released and theres a few things I dont like which is getting changed soon, such as Card statements showing “nochex” but other than that… no problems what so ever

Paypal pro is by far the best thing since sliced bread though in my eyes…

Withdrawal times are not great from most providers, so just something to get used to…

I’ve never used it either, but the mod is posted here if you want to use it: http://forum.cs-cart.com/showthread.php?t=2144

It is a great leap forward for PayPal to finaly bring Pro over to the UK, definately something to consider for the future.

2CO and CS has some bugs as of now like the cart not emptying and people not being returned to the cart. Ive emailed support on both sides as im a bit concerned with how 2CO takes the payments, i did a transaction 7 hours ago and while it says that its been accepted it also says that the payment hasnt been taken  A bit of a concern when i need to know that the money has been taken before i can send out templates. Now PayPal is working again it might be ok

Cheers for the link Brandito
Why does he need to PM you? Theres a free nochex mod in the third party mods section…
The mod doesn’t do any good if you don’t have a merchant account with Echo. While I do have permission to do a little advertising on these forums, I don’t want to abuse the privilege either. Private messages are a good way to communicate without going over the line so to speak. My company is an agent for Echo. Anyone that already has an Echo merchant account can install the free mod and start processing. I appreciate the free mod and encourage people to use it. Echo is a great service and I’m happy to offer it to CS-C customers. In order to do that, I paid CS-C to develop an Echo payment module that takes advantage of Echo’s credit, debit, check guaranty and conversion services. I welcome the opportunity to help anyone looking for a merchant service company, but I think it’s best if it’s done outside of these forums.

Cheers,

Mike

I used www.2checkout.com for a while and they shut my service off with no prior notice. They said I was selling things that could not be sold through them. I wasn’t selling anything on my site that was on there do not sell list but I was linked to sites that did. They wouldn’t turn my service back on until I got rid of the links. There customer service is terrible it has taken them two weeks to get back to me. I turned them into the BBB. Their do not sell stuff is listed below.

I would NEVER use 2 CO. They took 2 payments totalling 810 USD from my Paypal account, and after 22 days, the payment has still not been refunded. They have been most unfriendly and offhand in their customer service, though they admit their mistake, they say it might take another 7-10 days to receive the payment. Their spelling suggests that they are semi-literate, and do NOT inspire confidence. I would steer clear of this gang!!!

Is there any merchant that do not charge monthly fee besides this scary 2CO?
