1.3.5 sp3 to 2.0.4

Hi

Have installed 2.0.4 on local computer and made quite a few changes (not finished yet) and am wondering what is the BEST/SAFEST way to change over on my host server? Simple terms for a simple person please.

BarryH:confused:

Compress the files, upload the file to your server, then extract the file.

I have installed SP3 on local pc

Made a full db backup non compressed, imported it to local pc with installed SP3. Then did upgrade from SP3 to SP4 with store manager.

After this

But when I was moving images (as suggested in upgrade) to db from file system they went corrupted, half black and similar.

So to restore images I have exported them from SP3 live store, uploaded to test server with 2.04 imported them but before this csv file has to be a little bit modified (first column code then detailed image link then pair).

Thanks for the replies.

I have another couple of questions which are I suppose slightly off topic.

On the same server as www.mydomain.co.uk I have www.myseconddomain.co.uk

What I would like to do is install 2.0.4 on www.myseconddomain.co.uk (better name) and obviously transfer registration with CS.

1, Is it possible to do this without losing the traffic from www.mydomain.co.uk or from the like of google dumping me off the searches because www.mydomain.co.uk

is no longer in use as such?

2, Would I need a new SSL for that domain or would I be able to transfer?

I know of quite a number of site/companies that have change domain name and still come up in the searches.

  1. Have had a quick read and that sounds like it!!!
  2. Only changing domain (different name) but my company will still be the same.

Irrelative to the trading company, SSL is tied to the server that is hosting the website.

Hi

Yeah on same server, and new site will be an “ADD ON” domain so hopefully I will be ok but will obviously clarify before hand.

My main concern was the loss of traffic etc, but you answered that, thanks!!!
