#41334 Getting Google Checkout Errors suddenly

Posted by dgeere on 07 December 2008 - 03:05 AM in General Questions

Store has been running without issue for around a year. All of a sudden I am now getting errors from Google checkout saying that it couldnt communicate with my script for notification.

The page is at /payments/cc_processors/google_checkout_response.php however if I access it via the browser it loads albiet with the message "GCR: Failed to parse incoming XML data"

Has anyone else had this issue or can help explain what is wrong?

#33022 Allow customers to attach files with order

Posted by dgeere on 07 May 2008 - 10:34 AM in General Questions

Hey all.

Anyone got a mod yet / know of a way to allow customers to attach / upload files their their orders at all?

Similar to the way they can enter custom text, I want them to be able to upload a jpeg image with their design in.

Any thoughts / help would be amazing :)

use photo shop (free 30 day trial from adobe)
Check the help of photoshop for colour swap

You can easily change the colour of graphics using photoshop :)

If the help files are of no use just search for tutorials on google as there are many that will tell you how to change the colour of a graphic :)

#28174 Create User Account after Google Checkout

Already asked. They want to charge me. I am living without it for now. And yes, the customer would be able to view their details etc.

#27828 Calling out Google Checkout users - How do you handle the Google Checkout Dil...

Posted by dgeere on 01 February 2008 - 01:40 PM in v1.x Configuration

Yea, I was referring to dgeere's site - yumbadges.com. I put items in the cart and gave my Florida zipcode it said 2.99 shipping, then I went over to Google and no shipping.... only the item. Oh well... this will get figured out sooner or later..

Ah, BUT it wont add / calculate the shipping UNTIL you are logged in and on the next step of the checkout. :) So maybe its just that ;)

Anywho, for those that want to test checkout just use the sandbox mode :)

Yeah it happens sometimes and not others. We are not totally worried about it as our shipping costs are low but I will ask support to have another look. Thanks for saying though :)

Nope, users auto get a google account when they pay, that contains all the shipping status info etc.

We just removed all the links to login and account management etc on the site for now until we start using user accounts.

we would like to be able to use the newsletter features etc but at the moment we can always export any data we need to another bit of software so no huge loss. :)

#27677 Newsletter/magazine software?

Posted by dgeere on 30 January 2008 - 01:40 PM in Off-Topic/General Chat

Why not just

- Design site in dreamweaver
- Turn into a wordpress theme
- Run on wordpress
- Use one of the great wordpress subscription management plugins

#27667 [YOU!!] Are you interested in new themes for CS-Cart?

Posted by dgeere on 30 January 2008 - 09:30 AM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

I have had a silly number of PM's lately asking if my theme that I use is online for download.

The short answer is, no, I made it myself. I don't want to give it away as it would mean our site is no longer unique. The only way we would even let a copy slip out for money is at $2000 simply so we can be sure it does not start popping up on all the other cs sites :)

So, the question...
Are there people on here that are after new themes for CS-Cart? Perhaps more simple themes? Or customised ones etc?
What price would you be willing to pay? Keep in mind that it is not just a case of designing the theme in dreamweaver, it needs to be cut, split up, customised, checked etc... it takes some time.

If there is enough interest then we may put together some themes both free and paid to release back into the cs-cart community.

Really, this is just a quick poll to see who is interested and what they would want to pay etc :)

#27665 Calling out Google Checkout users - How do you handle the Google Checkout Dil...

Posted by dgeere on 30 January 2008 - 09:12 AM in v1.x Configuration

Check our site for how we make sure the button is seen.

We ONLY use Google Checkout.

Please DONT exactly copy us ;)

We contacted cs-cart about getting the data pushed back from Google to create a user account and generate a password, then email the customer their log in details... they said it can be done, but that it will cost.

This should really be a default feature of the cart, as such I refuse to pay for it. Maybe a group effort to get it sorted?

Either way, hope that helps.

I assume there is / will be a page with your address and full contact details on? I mean, we are giving you money etc.

Tried to reply to your pm but it says you have chosen not to allow PM messages or are not ableo to get them. You may want to look into that.

Like I was trying to send...

Could you send us a link to where we can see the design.

Additionally could you provide a little more information on what you are actually after?

#27221 Watermarking Images

Posted by dgeere on 23 January 2008 - 02:00 PM in v1.x Configuration

Here is the solution for those that want it....

This will watermark LARGE and THUMB images
It SHOULD work with database and filesystem images
I AM NOT OFFERING ANY SUPPORT I am just sharing what I personally did
So please don't ask questions and expect an answer :)

First grab yourself a copy of this

Install it to your server and test that it is working. You should construct your url in a similar way to this:

Read the instructions of the program and check out the demos at the above site to see how to customise that url.

One you know it is working and can see it is applying your watermark image you need to insert the url to image.tpl in the common templates folder. Look for the line
<img {if $obj_id && !$no_ids}id="det_img_{$obj_id}"{/if} src="
and after the src=" put something like the following

After the src= at the end you should have what was originally there... something like {$image_src}" {if $image_width}width="{$image_width}"{/if} {if $image_height}height="{$image_height}"{/if} alt="{$images.$checktype.alt}" border="0" {if $close_on_click == true}onclick="window.close();"{/if} />

Upload the image.tpl file and that should be it, save for a little tweaking.

If you set the width "W" to be that of your detailed size images, it should apply the watermark to the thumbs at the same size. So if you put BL or TL you may find the watermark does or doesnt show on the thumbs. Read the instructions and have a play... but this should be the basics for most people.

Again, I am not here to answer support questions as I don't know the answers, I just worked this out and wanted to share in the hope that it helps others on the way. :)

The key is the src= part of the image.tpl file... you should be able to use most image resize php scripts via that src call. :)

Have a good day!

#27124 Any web site that sell templates

Posted by dgeere on 22 January 2008 - 10:02 AM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

I made mine myself. I am thinking about starting to make a few cs-cart templates when I get some time. If you need something straight forward I could perhaps help you?

I didn't assume, I said "if" that is what he is doing ;)

Ahhh but I do see that I have got 2 users mixed up as one. Lol ;) Didn't realise it was 2 seperate users because of the flow of conversation :) lol As such you can likely ignore most of my post. :)

#27121 Nickel Print & Design - Business Cards, Flyers, Posters, and more..

Posted by dgeere on 22 January 2008 - 09:15 AM in Advertise Your Store

I would increase the text size, get your phone number in large clear print somewhere and I personally would be turned away by this...

People come online to shop online, I don't want to pick up the phone unless I have too. If you have competitors that don't have this issue then it is likely you will lose your customers to them.

Overall a nice site though :)

#27120 ...can easily handle over 10,000 products.

Posted by dgeere on 22 January 2008 - 09:13 AM in General Questions

See how you go. If it doesn't run / has problems then seek out dedicated server. If you start ramping up large numbers of traffic you really should be using a dedicated managed box, potentially 2 servers one for database and one for the site... potentially a third for images and a backup raid for each one so if one bit goes down its easy to get back up.

All depends how much a bit of down time or a slow site will be worth to you. If its worth a decent investment in hosting then you really should be slacking on it ;)

Personally if you are using a mac mini and want to run it over your home local pipe you are going to get in bad shape pretty quickly due to security issues, local traffic, and general restrictions in place by your pipe provider. :)

#27119 Watermarking Images

Posted by dgeere on 22 January 2008 - 09:10 AM in v1.x Configuration

Yeah I recently uninstalled osx, but as it is I don't want to watermark them locally and I generate the thumbnails from the large image but dont want the water mark on the thumb... as a result I must do it dynamically online for just the large version.

I know of a few watermarking scripts that I can use, and your suggestion is one that I have seen before. I will look at implementing one later this week :)

#27118 Google Base

The only way I can get google base to work is if I export the file as a comma file. the FTP stuff just doesn't want to work for me and I use Google base quite a lot on a number of other websites.

#27077 Add a #top link on pagnation elements?

On the ajax page numbers if you click one it loads the next page of products but does not take the user to the top of the page. How could I add a #top to the link so that I can send them back to the top of the page?
