Posted by zoom4267 on 19 March 2009 - 04:58 PM in Off-Topic/General Chat

hello all.

im asking here because you guys are so smart.

i need to make a simple form to take credit card numbers through it. what would be (if any) security issues? the company just wants the numbers then they will process the payment in their office.

thanks

#43124 testing server

Posted by zoom4267 on 21 January 2009 - 09:26 PM in General Questions

when i build a site for someone i set up the hosting then develope it right there. I know about testing servers but i dont use one. Here is my question. what is the difference , if any, from using a local testing server from setting up a temporary site on my own hosting account, such as www.mytestsite.com. then downloading the files then reuploading to the live site? thanks

#43121 New CS-Cart Skins still hard to find

Posted by zoom4267 on 21 January 2009 - 09:07 PM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

everything we do is a risk.. when cs cart started development of the software it was a risk. a good one at that, no guts no glory. but i know too if one risk it they can loose it. but i do beleive cs skins are worth the risk if one can make good ones.

#43064 New CS-Cart Skins still hard to find

Posted by zoom4267 on 21 January 2009 - 11:59 AM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

i think the demand for skins is not there because the skins are not there. i would bet if more skins were made they would do well. i would buy one then tweak it to my customers colors. when i first started it took me a very long time to figure out how to play with the template, and im still okay with it, nothing like web guy, but im sure with time and help here, but many of us dont have time and i would be willing to pay. and i agree too that it would have to be a 3rd pary, i want the team at cs cart to stay on thier path with coding,

#43063 Which Web Design Course?

Posted by zoom4267 on 21 January 2009 - 11:45 AM in General Questions

Hi, i too have posted non cs cart questons here too because of the quality of people here.

you may get many different answers. but for me who is also short on time, i do as many tutorials as i can find and practice. There are other forums for designers that you can post your work to for critique and advice. there is a good one i go to if you want to pm me for it. I look at someones portfolio and quality of work, many did not go toschool and are excellent, they practice. thats the key. if i see a diploma and lousy work, ill pass you up for no diploma and excellent work.

Hope this helps

#43030 New CS-Cart Skins still hard to find

Posted by zoom4267 on 20 January 2009 - 10:43 PM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

Yes, I agree...I'd much rather have CS-Cart working on speed, optimization, functionality...core enhancements etc...

Thanks for the "Kudos"...I should be "live" with the site by the end of the month

WebGuy

i cant wait to see it. it is beautiful.

#43027 New CS-Cart Skins still hard to find

Posted by zoom4267 on 20 January 2009 - 10:15 PM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

i know compared to other programs cs cart dosnt have alot of skins. but id rather have them work on an awsome cart then neglect the software for skins. Web guy---very nice!! and your right about small business not spending the money. economy is tight.

#41729 time out

Posted by zoom4267 on 16 December 2008 - 05:55 PM in v1.x Configuration

now i cant check out, i can go to the cart, but then i get "server timeout"

it started after i was playing with getting the check out to work, could it have something to do with the certificates?

i had https checked and when i went back to http, everything seemed fine

thanks

#41728 encrypted check out button

Posted by zoom4267 on 16 December 2008 - 05:08 PM in v1.x Configuration

If you do not have the SSL certificate for the site where your CS-Cart is installed, your need to disable the setting about the encrypted checkout in your PayPal account -> Profile -> Payment preferences.

i didnt think of that one. i was looking all over in the cart, i forgot about looking in pay pal

but i do have the certificate in the certificat folder on the cart

thanks soooo much

#41670 encrypted check out button

Posted by zoom4267 on 15 December 2008 - 07:00 PM in v1.x Configuration

im testing my cart and i use the regular pay pal. when i check out i get an error that states :

The seller accepts encrypted website payments only. You cannot pay the seller through un-encrypted buttons. Please contact your seller for more details.

thanks

#41668 Joomla & Virtuemart VS CS Cart

Posted by zoom4267 on 15 December 2008 - 06:46 PM in General Questions

i use joomla alot but NEVER for stores if its up to me. I do not like VM. CS cart is soo much better and its worth paying the extra money for. If you have problems the forums here are great, The vm forums, you will get moldy before you get an answer.

#37286 Pop-up cart

Posted by zoom4267 on 20 August 2008 - 11:00 AM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

i have to say its interesting. the problem i had is i have 2 monitors and the pop up showed up on the other one so it took me a second to see it. Its cool though. It would be neat if it worked like a light box, where it comes out of the cart text. i can see how it could confuse customers, but i kind of like it
