#25203 Both Side Columns Moved Only on Cart Page

Posted by bholland on 07 December 2007 - 05:55 PM in General Questions

Hey James,

I'm guessing it has to do with the Google Checkout button. For whatever reason that is in a table that wrapped itself around both left and right side column divs. Not sure how you managed that one ;)

Take a look at your main.tpl page to see what's happening...

Also, you should check it out in FireFox with the FireBug Plug In installed. It will make your life so much easier to see what's going on.

#25183 Checkout subtotal addition confusing

Posted by bholland on 06 December 2007 - 06:29 PM in General Questions

Not to veer off topic :), but what are the current rumors swirling around about an SP2 release date? I'm getting close to releasing a site and am debating on waiting...

I'd also like to agree that the standard sub totaling does look a bit strange...

Hmmm, that's odd. There is a web developer tool bar add on for IE, but I don't have much experience with it. Might want to give that a try.

#24734 CS-Cart developer needed

Posted by bholland on 28 November 2007 - 05:24 PM in General Questions

Hi davido,

It might help if you provided a bit more information about what you want done, the timeline, etc. You'll probably get some better responses that way.

#24710 Product list and short description

Glad you got it working. There is most likely a JavaScript conflict/error that is happening somewhere. Do you use FireFox at all? An easy way to see what is happening is use FireFox and the FireBug Plugin. This will show you exactly what's happening behind the scenes and why it's hanging.

There is a different .tpl file for categories & multi column categories (something like multi_categories). You should just be able to copy and past whatever the shor desc. code is out of the one .tpl into the other.

#24691 OH NO! It's another Paypal Pro question! :)

Posted by bholland on 27 November 2007 - 10:54 PM in v1.x Configuration

truem,

I am by no means a PayPal fan (I'll spare you the horror stories), but am curious how your experience has been with PayPal Pro? I'm about to start with it and am always curious...

Thanks,

#24690 Site Layout Problem Causing Home Page Issue

Posted by bholland on 27 November 2007 - 10:52 PM in v1.x Configuration

Hi Gary,

I'm not sure about restoring, but why not just go in and remove what got added? You can copy and paste your code here if you need help sorting out what should be removed, etc.

#24689 Remove the Best Seller SideBox

Posted by bholland on 27 November 2007 - 10:49 PM in v1.x Configuration

KernelPanic,

I believe there is a setting in the Admin > Add Ons to turn it off. If this isn't the case, you can go into your main.tpl file and manually remove it.

Hope that helps,

#24662 Changing Skins

Posted by bholland on 27 November 2007 - 06:15 PM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

Hi devannielsen,

Yes, you can switch between skins without worrying about killing any of your changes. I always like to keep a local copy of the skin I'm working with just in case as a backup. If something goes wrong on your site you can always reupload it.

#24661 OH NO! It's another Paypal Pro question! :)

Posted by bholland on 27 November 2007 - 06:13 PM in v1.x Configuration

Hi tmhs,

You're going to need to get your own SSL cert if you're processing credit cards on your own site through PayPal Pro. I'm about to start using PayPal Pro as well and when you mention it takes seven days to withdraw funds, is that after they've posted to your account? How long does the actual transfer take to your local bank account?

Thanks,

#24304 Linking Paypal to the cart

Posted by bholland on 20 November 2007 - 06:37 PM in v1.x Configuration

It doesn't really matter which you choose initially as you can "upgrade" your account to a business account. You need to decide if you want people to be able to pay with a credit card or paypal or both and if you want to have them fill their information on your site or on Pay Pal's site. This will then help you choose if you want Web Payments or Web Payments Pro.

#24149 Skins: Flat or multiple includes

Posted by bholland on 18 November 2007 - 10:54 PM in General Questions

MisterTC,

You're probably not going to see much of a difference performance wise by dropping some of the includes. That being said, it's usually best to leave a file on its own if you ever use it in more than one place. All general files (header, footers, nav, etc.) should be in separate files or you're going to have a nightmare on your hands when you need to make changes down the road. The problem is that CS templates going a little crazy with included files and Smarty when much could be combined and managed through CSS. I general include files if I think it makes sense and helps me remember where the code is living...

#24064 CS-Cart Status

Posted by bholland on 16 November 2007 - 09:37 PM in Off-Topic/General Chat

Perhaps a little harsh, but true :)

Can someone from CS comment on the status of when SP2 will be released for 1.3.5? Or where things are at with fixing bugs, etc.

#24061 Upload images

Posted by bholland on 16 November 2007 - 09:33 PM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

horsegoer,

You need to spend some time reading about web basics...

FTPing images, files, etc. to your server is something you can find the answer to with some quick googling.

Regarding images to CS Cart, you can upload the within the admin area if you're talking about prodcut images...If you want to upload images for the site design, you need to set up an FTP account with your host (you probably have one by default that is the same as how you log into your hosting admin account). I use SmartFTP, but there are lots out there...

Whoops, that's because I'm an idiot...Didn't close my "if" statement. Try this:

{assign var="current" value=$smarty.get.page_id}
 <p>This: {$current}<p>

 {if $target == 'pages' && $page_id == 'bhbinflight'}
 	 {assign var="class" value='selected'}
 {/if}
	<td width="2">
		<img src="{$images_dir}/top_menu_delim.gif" width="2" height="30" border="0" alt="">
	</td>
	<td width="{$tab_width}" align="center" class="{$class|default:'empty'}" onClick="javascript:self.location='{$index_script}?{$mode_name}=bhbinflight'" nowrap>
		<a href="http://www.blueheronbags.com/estore/index.php?target=pages&page_id=bhbinflight" class="top-menu-title">{$lang.bhbinflight}</a>
	</td>

Hey J,

I'm interested in the very same thing. I'm not that great with Smarty, but it seems like there should be an easy way to access that variable through Smarty directly. If you figure this out, please post it up here.

Thanks,

B

#23859 top_menu.tpl option background color

Posted by bholland on 14 November 2007 - 12:53 AM in v1.x Store Design & Templates

Hey Travis,

After you add that code in just copy and paste the HTML it outputs so I can take a look.

B

EDIT: Actually, stick in this code:

{assign var="current" value=$smarty.get.page_id}
 <p>This: {$current}<p>

 {if $target == 'pages' && $page_id == 'bhbinflight'}
 	 {assign var="class" value='selected'}

	<td width="2">
		<img src="{$images_dir}/top_menu_delim.gif" width="2" height="30" border="0" alt="">
	</td>
	<td width="{$tab_width}" align="center" class="{$class|default:'empty'}" onClick="javascript:self.location='{$index_script}?{$mode_name}=bhbinflight'" nowrap>
		<a href="http://www.blueheronbags.com/estore/index.php?target=pages&page_id=bhbinflight" class="top-menu-title">{$lang.bhbinflight}</a>
	</td>

EDIT AGAIN: I should add that turning on your smarty debug console will show you a lot of these variable you're trying to use in the top_menu.tpl. It will display your $target, $current_url, etc.
