#311156 Compressing Photos To Increase Speed

Posted by martfox on 16 January 2019 - 05:49 PM in General Questions

I would like to increase the speed of my progressive website. I would like to know if anyone is using .svg or saving photos as fluid. Or if this even works in our progressive designs. If so is it worth the investment of time to change my .jpg and png photos

Thank you

How many images do you have at the moment and what is the approximate file size of an image?

What is the current site speed and which files need the most loading time? You can check it here:

#307033 Ssl- Issue

Posted by martfox on 27 September 2018 - 03:36 PM in Security

...and conclusion: the 500 Internal Server Error (The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.) is caused by the Blog add-on. After disabling it, the site works over https again like before the updates...

CS-Cart team: please explain what happened and how to fix it. (Of course without to disabling the add-on).

Thanks

#307030 Ssl- Issue

Posted by martfox on 27 September 2018 - 02:48 PM in Security

UPDATE:

If "Enable secure connection for the storefront > Secure profile, checkout and order pages" is enabled and "Keep HTTPS connection once a secure page is visited" is checked, then it keeps the https on the whole site without 500 error. Once disabled, the error is back.

P.S. admin is working still over https and without errors and problems...

#307028 Ssl- Issue

Posted by martfox on 27 September 2018 - 02:14 PM in Security

Please try the recommendations from this article:

https://docs.cs-cart...ion_failed.html

Also, make sure that curl is working properly on your server. CS-Cart is testing if the HTTPS page is accessible via curl request.

Our client has same problem. After latest updates the only working option in "Enable secure connection for the storefront" is "Secure profile, checkout and order pages". By disabling the secure connection or enabling for the whole cs-cart site, appears the 500 error.

Curl is installed of course and ssl instaled as well all the time. So it's not a problem on the server because it was working before and no changes have been made server side.

Posted by martfox on 17 June 2018 - 08:46 PM in Security

i was talking about a verification system of addons like they have on presta... the module has to be tested, and verified...here are distrubted addons without a verification. you can put anyting inside an addon

That's an another story and has nothing to do with the OP issue in this thread.

#302495 Free Amazon Cloud Hosting For Cs-Cart And Multi-Vendor

Posted by martfox on 08 June 2018 - 10:29 PM in Web Hosting

I went with AWS. I had Simtech move and manage it. I was told the cost for AWS would be free or a small monthly fee. The web  speed is very good. That is all I can  say about it.

Managing AWS is very confusing unless you are familiar with it. Everything about it is confusing, No cpanel. That is why I paid Simtech but they are very slow to respond to my questions or request (days).

My web site was down for several hours I contacted Simtech. Took them several hours to respond. I found out my service is integrated with my old hosting company and that was causing the problem.

Cost is very expensive over $700 a month !!!! I don't have that large of a site 3500 products and 40K visitors a month.

If the price of AWS was more competitive with hosting companies it would be a deal but the cost and difficult interface it is not worth it for me.

$700 a month for an e-commerce site hosting? Crazy... For such price you will get 2 dedicated servers (one as failover server) with two cPanels, 100% avilability/uptime, firewall, 100% configured for CS-Cart, free CS-Cart installation or migration from foreign servers and a CS-Cart license for free!!!

Delete all files, re-upload the CS-Cart files to the server (or make a fresh installation), check the database of suspicious entries. If that is ok, install and configure OWASP ModSecurity Core Rule Set or COMODO ModSecurity Apache Rule Set on the server. This will provide you a real-time protection against many common attack categories, including sql injection, cross site scripting (XSS) attacks, file inclusion etc.

#301779 Do I Have To Purchase Cs-Cart To Create Themes?

Posted by martfox on 18 May 2018 - 04:28 PM in General Questions

Hello Everyone! :-)

I am new to CS-Cart (sort of). I haven't purchased a license, but I would like to create themes for CS-Cart for my clients. Since I only want to create themes, do I really need to purchase a license? Is there a free version for developers/designers?

Regards,

Misstheresa2009

You can download the demo version https://www.cs-cart....ad-cs-cart.htmland use it for development. The only restriction is, you can't use it for a live store. That mean, you can install it on a local machine, or a server with an access restristriction.

#301777 Multiple Carts

Does anyone make an addon so a customer can have multiple carts?

Never saw an e-shop with multiple carts. What should be the purpose of this?

#301563 Cs-Cart Cannot Handle High Traffic

Posted by martfox on 14 May 2018 - 02:46 PM in General Questions

You should change enviroment on nginx, php-fpm on ssd disc.

Generally and again: It won't help any nginx, sdd and fpm if the I/O things are not tweaked right and if there isn't enough CPU power and RAM.

BTW the speed difference between Apache and Nginx is so small, that it isn't worth to swith to and risk some usual 502 errors (502 Bad Gateway NGINX).

#301275 Free Amazon Cloud Hosting For Cs-Cart And Multi-Vendor

Posted by martfox on 07 May 2018 - 08:50 PM in Web Hosting

simtechdev.com and cs-cart.com is the same company. They just created a new "branch name" to be "separated" from the cart development and cs-cart support... and paid add-ons development.

In this "advertising thread" the "chain" looks like:

1. choose a AWS free service

2. customers with zero knowledge of linux or what ever have to contact simtech

3. and from this "point" the customer has to pay for each task they would do...

And it's not cheap...

At the end the customer will get a AWS "server" enviroment which will be at least twice expensive as a regular VPS or dedicated server from a regular web hosting company. AMAZON, is NOT a web hosting company - AMAZON is just a money maker which will sell to you everything they can, like GOOGLE and Co.

And do not trust any web hosting review sites - it's just a paid advertising or they are a part of "Endurance International Group"

...here is a list of the all best web hosting companies you will find on each review page in the "TOP 10" list:

low network throughput as you'd never take advantage of the gp2 EBS volumes properly (remember these are network attached storage devices, not physical drives connected to the instance).

That's what I'm saying, but Mr. Maksim Komonov from Simtech won't "undestand" it...

#301263 Cs-Cart Cannot Handle High Traffic

Posted by martfox on 07 May 2018 - 07:18 PM in General Questions

The CPU is being used up 80-100% by the cs-cart resources as per the server stats.

So the CPU is the problem. But probably not the CPU itself, but the I/O requests, DB etc. First the server needs be configured properly to work with CS-Cart (or any other application), then you can check another things and tweak the server/settings. Because it's not enough just install the OS and CS-Cart on it. It requires some tasks to be done manualy inside Apache, MySQL, PHP etc...

#301259 Site Down

Posted by martfox on 07 May 2018 - 06:48 PM in General Questions

Thaks MarFox, I am double checking with them now but i did email them and initial response was no.

Then go to the 'config.php' file nad uncoment this lines:

//Uncomment to enable the developer tools: debugger, PHP and SQL loggers, etc.
//define('DEBUG_MODE', true);

//Uncomment to enable error reporting.
//define('DEVELOPMENT', true);

to

//Uncomment to enable the developer tools: debugger, PHP and SQL loggers, etc.
define('DEBUG_MODE', true);

//Uncomment to enable error reporting.
define('DEVELOPMENT', true);

Then have a look at the errors which will be displayed. That should be enough to get an idea, what happened.

#301258 Cs-Cart Cannot Handle High Traffic

Posted by martfox on 07 May 2018 - 06:42 PM in General Questions

Already increased the memory limit in php.ini to 3 GB but there's no change.

If you are on a shared server, it won't help if there is a limitation on the server itself. That means, e.g if the server has 2 GB RAM, increasing the memory e.g. to 6 GB won't work.

The link in your signature tells the opposite.

I don't understand, what do you mean with it. The link show you just all services we provide, it's not a direct link with a "recomendation"...

#301248 Site Down

Posted by martfox on 07 May 2018 - 05:45 PM in General Questions

All of a sudden today i cannot use my site. When i try to login as admin, it says the store is closed.

When i go to the main site, it looks normal sometimes, but won't let  me add anything to the cart. Otherwise it just says store closed.

Any ideas?

Ask your hosting provider if they did some changes on the server.

But anyway, there isn't a "best webhosting" rule and scale. The best web hosting for you, is one which meets your requirements and expectations.
